Chuck Aldridge
Chuck Aldridge, a retired educator and self-taught artist who learned his craft by observation, began painting in earnest following a thru hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2011. Many of his paintings have allowed recreating moments of his time on and off the trail. In addition to paintings of the Appalachian Trail, he does local landscapes and cityscapes that embrace the life and culture of western North Carolina. Large scale florals, abstracts, and charcoal sketches round out his repertoire and show that emotion as well as experience are catalysts for his work.

Lindsay Anderson
I am the owner of Coyote Moon Creative. I am a mixed media artist who lives and works out of a tiny home in Marion, NC who is endlessly inspired by nature and offers a wide variety of handmade, psychedelic art that is steeped in the mystery of the wilderness. From vibrant , colorful paintings and illustrations to hand sewn goods and etched cooper art ,I am constantly floating between various mediums all while seeking to create one-of-a-kind works of art that embody the magical spirit of the natural world. Whenever possible, I make a conscious choice to create goods using slower, hands-on techniques, turning away from mass production and focusing instead on the intrinsic beauty of the handmade.

Wood and metals, cordage and leather, glass and filaments come together to produce sculputures that are both intriguing to the eye and pleasing to the ear. Carlofuco’s ArtGineering blends nurturing sound with intricate physical structures. Each piece is interactive and invites the participant into a deeply emotional experience. Whether it takes the form of a tubular pipe, gongs, drums or wind and water driven chimes, each sculpture embraces a percussion song uniquely experienced by each human interacting with the art piece.
I joined the community of Old Fort in 1983 and eventually made our mountains my home away from home. As a former aviator, mariner and engineer, my observations of the human experience are also gauged from neutro-divergent perspective. Deep Intentional Healing drive my art and its forms.

I have always had a big love for drawing since I was a young child. I attended the North Carolina School of the Arts for high school, and majored in illustration. After college, I worked various jobs which meant my “traditional” drawing skills weren’t as well utilized , but then I was severely injured on the job. After being declared disabled, I rediscovered drawing agin as a coping mechanism and found my love for it again. Now I create art full time, and it is my joy and passion to bring my work to my clients.

Catherine Bruggeman
Over 35 years ago I created my first conventional Stained glass piece. After that, the sky was the limit with what ifs… I added geodes, copper tubing, wire, 3-d sculpture, bicycle wheels, and MELT it with a torch! … the journey continues! Glass is magical!

Diane Enger
Glass has an intrinsic reflective element and my work plays with this quality by creating a variety of textures on the glass and using many techniques and firing schedules. I utilize the patterns, textures and colors of nature and my artwork is a process of constructing these inspirations in glass.

Gail Gill
I am very much a Zen artist feeling completely comfortable in the woods and the wonderful world we live in. As an artist, like most, I do a number of different mediums such as watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, oils, encaustics and stain glass. Believing in the healing properties of art, I encourage women to join me in the process of creating.
I am motivated by the woods, trees, gardening and the love of nature and believe in nurturing the creative artistic seed in everyone. Each piece I create is infused with meditative positive energy.

My work is inspired by the stone. I have to spend time contemplating the stone itself and the stone grain and texture. That starts letting me know how to carve it, how to shape it, and how to finish it. The stone itself is the medium so I have to listen to the stone and go with it.

I primarily work in watercolors and acrylics. With every finished piece of artwork I capture snippets of the natural world and all of its wonder and beauty. My artwork speaks of my passion and love of nature and is a reminder the natural world should always be sacred to each of us.

Brad Owen
I am a self-taught artist who has been drawing since the age of three. However, my career as an ecologist was in academia, industry and consulting. I am currently co-owner of Painteers Greenhouse. In semi-retirement I have been able to return to my love of art and I work in any medium that puts images on surfaces. My love of the natural world drives most of my work. As I used to say to my former biology students - “If you draw it, you have seen it.” While I met with resistemce from some students, I still firmly believe that our appreciation and understanding of the natural world, of which we are a part, is through observation and art! Creativity is what distinguishes us from the rest of the animal world, and it is incumbent on us to use this skill!

Karen Paquette
As an abstract artist I use an intuitive approach to express my style and to visually relate my imaginative process using my 40+ years of experimentation in various art forms. Mixed media lets me explore and experiment until what I see has a pleasing form with multi-layer texture and design. I am informed by the natural world and the mystery that lies beneath the surface of what we know. I hope my creations will spark the viewer’s imagination and provoke an inspiring visual experience.

Helen Sullivan
I am primarily a painter, but since retirement I’ve also become a pottery student and a dabbler in fused glass.
My main inspiration is the natural world, especially the mountains, woods, and waters of Western North Carolina.
As I grow as an artist I find myself moving from the realistic to the abstracted in my artistic journey, but I refuse to limit myself to one facet or medium.

I am a fiber artist working primarily in Nuno felting. At times I incorporate stitching and weaving to make one-of-a-kind pieces of art made of fine wools, silks, and assorted fibers, often using vintage and up cycled fabrics. I find peace and inspiration in the gardens and woods that surround my home and studio in the foothills of the North Carolina mountains.
